Typical Duties:

 

+ Work on a variety of 1st class projects on the Islands

+ Successfully tackle a broad range of electrical construction and design/build projects

+ Responsible for company compliance to applicable laws and regulations, key environmental and safety implementation of programs and direct services to manage hazardous materials and prevent injuries and accidents

+ Provides oversight and expertise to all company personnel located throughout the state

+ Maintain extensive and frequent interaction with the Company President, Senior Executive Management, Management teams, site personnel, key members of the external insurance and risk management community, representatives of the Federal agencies and Government designated authorities of respective commands, State agencies, professional organizations and other safety professionals

+ Remain current in Professional Certifications as well as OSHA 30 hour training.
+ Provide instruction in OSHA Outreach 10 hour and 30 hour Construction training for company foreman and above. Provide training related to high hazard activities as well and Competent Person training in these activities.
+ Conduct site safety audits to ensure compliance with regulations, policies and contractual requirements. Provide support and information as a resource in evaluating high hazard activities and eliminating, abating or minimizing the exposures through communication and planning.
+ Prepare and develop Site Specific Safety Plans for project submittal for military and private projects. 

+ Prepare and plan presentations for meetings, focusing on best practices, Operational Risk Management, training and compliance.

+ Partner with and influence leaders across organizational lines resulting in substantial impact in moving their short and long-term safety efforts forward.
+ Maintain effective working relationships and active membership on committees with local, state and federal agencies that govern safety, loss prevention and risk in the construction and general industries.
+ Monitor documented audit trails to insure compliance with safety, prevention and insurance programs. 

+ Collect, analyze and prepare safety management information and data necessary for planning, report generation and decision making. Suggest corrective and preventative measures, and distribute to necessary personnel.

+ Effectively manage a budget to foster a positive safety culture and maintain compliance across the company, as well and meeting the Uniform Field Guide Specifications project requirements.
+ Provide reports for company management and respond on a timely basis to inquiries and questions. Maintain a thorough and current understanding of contract language, site specific safety and submittal requirements, public and site protection audits, as well as the latest developments in the safety and health field.
 +Partner with various company departments to ensure effective organizational coordination in health, environmental and safety activities.
 + Employee Education- 

 Develop and implement a comprehensive, high quality employee safety education curriculum, including but not limited to OSHA regulations, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Manual EM-385-1-1, state laws, Competent Person Training, construction activity planning, emergency preparedness and response, Accident Prevention Plans, fire prevention and protection, general industrial safety, hazardous materials management, industrial hygiene, and injury prevention.
 
+ Publicize safety materials and serve as a resource for safety, risk management, hazardous materials, security and fire protection information.
 
+Job Site Visit- 

Provide support and act as a resource for safety staff. Serve as primary auditor to assure the company's compliance with the COE, OSHA, State and Company safety programs, procedures and policies.
 

+ Provide oversight of programs through personal on-site inspections, review of inspections or reports performed by other staff representatives, personal investigation or analysis of data compiled by outside agencies and regulatory officials. Oversee accident and property loss investigation processes.

 + Reporting and tracking of injuries via WC-1. Follow up on all accidents, and lost time injured workers.  Reporting of vehicle or equipment/material damages.
 + Encourage an environment where site supervisors can share best practices, raise concerns and present ideas for program enhancements.
 + Loss Prevention- Make recommendations to Executive Management concerning safety policies and procedures to help prevent, mitigate or abate risk and safety exposures and concerns.
+ Travel as necessary to projects during the risk stages of construction and to conduct site safety audits. Provide expertise to project teams and project personnel. Attend Quality Control, Pre-Construction, Staff and Site meetings, when possible, to serve as a resource and trainer.

+ Project types may include;

electrical construction for industrial plants, petrochemical plants, power generation plants, governmental and military facilities, commercial buildings, hotels, medical facilities, co-gen systems, and industrial and commercial controls. We have performed work on private, Federal, State, and City projects

 

 

WHAT A PERFECT FIT LOOKS LIKE;

+ You have 3+ years of successful experience

+ Your experience is rooted in Project Safety within Electrical Construction, General Construction and Electrical Services 

+ You have a Bachelor of Science degree

+ Electrical or General construction background and electrical services background

+ You possess financial management skills including proposal preparation and project budget management, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

+ You may have experience in working with City and County of Honolulu, State of Hawaii and Federal agencies

+ You have strong verbal and written communication skills and can multitask working on varying projects

+ Currently hold a driver’s license
